Subject:George STONESTREET, son of Ephraim STONESTREET
I have a STONESTREET branch which married my family - so no blood connection, but may have info to share. I have a George STONESTREET who married several times. Firstly to Martha ROBERTS, then to someone called Alice (who died of appendicitis on a transatlantic liner) , then to my relative Alice SANFORD then to Harriet CLARK. George was born in Maidstone in 1863 to Ephraim STONESTREET and Harriet. He seems to have lived mostly in London working at Somerset House. He and Alice (my Alice - who was from Exeter) had children Mabel, Edith, George, Alice and Mary. George jr was born in 1901 and had children Enid, Betty, another girl and I think a son also called George. The George born in 1901 was, we think, something to do with Walls Ice-cream company. Although it's not one of my main areas of research, I'm happy to hear from anyone who has info on this branch of what is, after all, an unusual surname.

My GGG Grandparents were Henry Stonestreet and Sarah Waters. Their daughter Ann Stonestreet married Thomas Winchester. Their son, John, married Sarah Dengate. Their daughter, Mercy Winchester, was my Grandmother. She came from England with her Brother Stephen and her mother and they lived in and around Centerville, Ut. Mercy died before I was born so I didn't have the pleasure of knowing her, but I have been in contact with Stephens family who still live in Utah where I was raised. Unfortunately, even though they lived close, I never met any of them. Alta Godwin

I am descended from Ann "Nanny" Stonestreet (christened 1792 in Warbleton Sussex) and her husband, Thomas Winchester. My maiden name is Winchester. I have some information about Ann from a professional genealogist that my relatives hired in the 1960's, but I would love to know more about her and her ancestry. Ann's grandson, Stephen Frederick Winchester, emigrated to America, and he is my great-grandfather.

I am the last Stonestreet in Canada. My grandfather was Alfred Orson (George) Stonestreet, born Nov. 23, 1882 in Guestling East Sussex. He married Rosa Amelia Canham on Dec. 11, 1912 in York, Ontario, Canada, now Toronto. Rosa was born in Rushmere, Suffolk, England on April 6, 1875. They met and married in Toronto. Rosa came to Canada, arriving in Quebec from Liverpool on August 20, 1909. Her parents were James Canham and Laura Jane Gardiner. My great grandparents on the Stonestreet side were Alfred Stonestreet and Agnes Tutt. Elaine Robbins
